This position is for 2nd shift schedule of Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-2:00am with overtime as required or needed.
Job Description:
As a QA Inspector, you will examine parts/materials for quality and defects to ensure we are meeting customer specifications. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Work with little to no supervision.
Job Duties/Responsibilities May Include, but Not Limited To:
- Inspect, measure, and analyze in-process and final parts/assemblies to ensure we are meeting customer specifications.
- Ensure operators are following correct processes and procedures including special work instructions which are listed on the router.
- Audit and release parts/materials to outside service.
- Audit and release finished goods to inventory.
- Record QC Inspection Data on Operation Control Sheets.
- Monitor manufacturing Inspection Data on Operation Control Sheets.
- Perform in-process inspections using calibrated precision measuring instruments to meet customer specifications and record results on quality documentation.
- Perform quality audits of controlled manufacturing area for material identification, traceability, handling damage/deterioration.
- Monitor calibration equipment on the manufacturing floor to ensure current calibration.
- Monitor and report scrap.
- Inform Quality Manager and/or Production Manager of any/all discrepancies.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination and Standard Work.
- Comply with all appropriate Quality Standards and fully support the ISO Program.
- Comply with OSHA Requirements, Safety, Good Housekeeping and 5S Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications / Education / Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- GED/Diploma, 3 years minimum previous experience in a sheet metal environment or combination of education and experience.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of shop mathematics.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, product specifications and other GMI standards, policies and procedures and apply job methods and instructions in a timely manner.
- Must be proficient in using measuring equipment: vernier, digital and dial caliper and squares, etc.
- Must be able to hold a tolerance of +/- .005.
- Requires lifting sheet metal parts up to 50 lbs. and up to 96” infrequently.
- Requires repetitive movement, bending, twisting, standing and lifting.
- Has the ability to work in a team environment to achieve the goals of the department.
- Ability to work OT when required including weekends.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate degree.
- 5 years minimum previous experience in a sheet metal environment or combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years quality experience in a sheet metal environment.
